An elderly couple walked into the lobby of the Mayo Clinic for a checkup and spotted a piano. Theyve been married for 62 years and hell be 90 this year. Check out this impromptu performance. We are only as old as we feel, its all attitude. Enjoy! They certainly do.

Soundwagon/Vinyl Killer toy bus that plays LPs

The Soundwagon is a little toy bus that drives around a vinyl record playing the music from its onboard speaker. (The product is sometimes called the Vinyl Killer which is probably a more descriptive name.) I'd seen them in pictures before but never in operation. I especially like this video because it shows the Soundwagon on a transcription record, 16" platters from the 1930s and 1940s first used in cinemas to play film soundtracks and later at radio stations for recorded programs, before the proliferation of magnetic tape. Musician “plays” a dry cleaning shop as instrument

Earlier this year, I posted about sound designer and composer Diego Stocco who "played" a tree as a rhythmic instrument. Now, Diego has played a dry cleaner. Both projects remind me a bit of David Van Tieghem's excellent 1982 "Ear to the Ground" video, in which he "plays" the streets of New York City. Diego says:

Almost everyday, on my way to a local bakery, I walk in front of a dry cleaners.

When they have the front door open, I hear a lot of interesting sounds coming from their work equipment. Eventually, the different mechanical and steam sounds sparked something in my mind, so one day I asked the owners if I could record a piece of music by using their machines as musical instruments.

I used a puff iron, press and dry cleaning machines, a washer, clothes hangers, and a bucket full of soap.

The bass and lead sounds were created from the buzzing tones coming from the conduits and engines. There are no additional sounds from any traditional or electronic instruments.

Wilco invites fans to make videos of their home towns, to be projected on tour while band plays

The great American alt-country-rock-whatever band Wilco, whom I love dearly, invites their fans to shoot video of the cities they're touring in. Some of the resulting videos "may be projected behind the band during the show in your town," says Wilco, "So break out your camera and show us what your city looks like to you."

More guidance:

When you're shooting, keep the important stuff and movement to the top 1/3rd of the frame - this is where the projections will be most visible on our stage set. Please check the Vimeo page for more details and guidelines. Have fun & we can't wait to see what you come up with!
